Privacy notice

Last updated: 1 October 2026

Ian Murray Photography is the trading name of Ian Murray, a sole trader. Ian Murray is the controller responsible for the personal data described in this notice. You can contact him at [email protected].

What information is used?

If you email about a print or place an order, Ian may receive your name, email address, delivery address, order details and any information you include in your message. The site also receives the search terms you choose to enter in the photograph search. The site does not ask for payment card details.

Why and on what basis?

Enquiries are used to respond to you and discuss or arrange a print order. Order and delivery details are used to fulfil the contract with you and send the print. The lawful basis is steps requested before entering a contract and performance of the contract. Records may be retained where necessary to meet legal or accounting obligations or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Who receives the information?

Payments are handled by PayPal, which receives the information needed to process your payment under its own privacy statement. Delivery details are given to Royal Mail when needed to post your order. The website is hosted on Ian’s NAS. Domain email is provided through the domain service paid for from Rob Rose Media; the registrar name is not currently recorded here. Ian does not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.

How long is it kept?

Ian does not keep your enquiry or delivery details after the enquiry has been dealt with and the order has been posted, except where a longer period is required for tax, accounting, legal or dispute purposes. The applicable accounting retention period should be confirmed before publishing a fixed period.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site does not use analytics, advertising pixels, embedded media, client gallery accounts or non-essential cookies. Its gallery “Load more” control may use temporary browser session storage to remember how many photographs you have revealed on that page. This is used only for that display preference and is cleared by the browser when the session ends; no information is sent to Ian. You can block session storage in your browser, although the gallery may then reset when you return to a page.

Because the site currently has no optional cookies or similar technologies, there is no optional cookie consent banner. If analytics, advertising, embedded content or another non-essential storage technology is added, the site must be reviewed and an opt-in consent mechanism added before it is used.

Your rights

You may ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, or ask Ian to restrict or stop certain processing. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it. To exercise a right, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Changes to this notice

This notice will be reviewed when the site, services or data handling changes.
